"Heads Up!": Be Mindful of These

Every car line, no matter how great, has a few commonly reported problems. While it's best practice to have your car serviced regularly and make timely repairs, there are a few issues to be aware of so that you can pay special attention to ensure early detection. For example, some owners report more than expected oil leaks once they pass 8,000 miles. As cars age, some leakage may not be a big surprise, but 8,000 is a bit early to expect such an issue. To help prevent this, make sure you keep watch over the gaskets. Also, some drivers are surprised by the development of a water leak around the sunroof. Not all owners experience this problem, but it can surely ruin an interior quickly if not addressed when it indeed happens. Reports indicate that such leaks often begin between 20,000 and 30,000 miles. The largest complaint, however, is with drivetrain components. Some Lexus owners report an illuminated check engine light at a relatively low mileage mark. The great news is that the manufacturer covers such problems for the first four years. (In case you need a reminder or clarification, the drivetrain is a collection of components that work together to move your vehicle using the engine's power. These include the driveshaft, differential, transmission, wheels, axles, and CV joints.)
