Autumn Auto Maintenance Checklist

The cooler season is upon us, and winter driving comes with it. October is Fall Car Care Month and here at Dave’s Ultimate Auto, we are offering 15% off all maintenance services now until the end of October. While safety is important all year long, there are certainly some auto maintenance jobs and safety checks that are specific to chilled air and winter driving. It is a good idea to check your car’s preparedness before we're knee deep in the season. To prevent turning into a road popsicle, or even worse end up with your holiday budget blown on unexpected repairs, inspect the car to be sure things are in proper condition. As with any change of season, we can help you to make sure you are up to date on the maintenance items that should be taken care of regularly. We will also give you a complimentary report on the condition of your entire vehicle and help you prioritize maintenance or repairs based on what you want for the future of your vehicle. Cool Weather Specific Maintenance •Inspect your antifreeze- Your antifreeze (i.e. coolant) is an essential part of your car's cold weather protection. Your radiator contains a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze, so check the level is full and the mixture is close to 50/50. We can check this mixture for you at no charge! •Visually inspect your tires- The last line of defense between you and road debris is your tires. This is not the season to get cheap about tires, so take the time to check the tread depth. It's our recommendation, especially in winter weather, that anything less than 4/32" (1/8") be replaced soon. Also, be sure to check your tire pressure, they lose a little pressure when the weather cools. •Replace worn windshield wipers- Visibility and alertness are most important during inclement weather. Anything falling from the sky is going to end up on your windshield, and you’re going to need quality wipers. It takes wipers that are in good condition to keep your windshield clean, clear and safe. •Check windshield washer fluid - A mile stuck behind an 18-wheeler and your windshield will look like a muddy mess if you're low on washer fluid. *Tip: Don't fill your washer fluid reservoir with anything other than washer fluid, anything else will freeze! Don’t delay- get your car taken care of this month and take advantage of our 15% off all maintenance services promotion!
